It does look like an intense Sonora/Bermuda ridge (that may even marge with the Sahara ridge across the Atlantic) will center itself somewhere from Eastern KY to the Mid-Atlantic area by the first of July.

That ridge locking is going to be a major problem for Florida, Texas, and Mexico this summer and early fall.  I foresee some tropical systems getting stuck under that ridge and producing some Noah Arc-style rainfall.

With the rain we got yesterday in W TN we should be good until July if we don’t get any rain over the next 2 weeks.

Things seem to be heating up as we've got a Tropical Storm Warning in place for Texas and possible development of a system moving towards the SE coast by the end of the week.

With the hot, dry pattern settling in I wonder if we're going to end up needing a tropical system later in the summer as a drought buster for some areas.

Latest enso models continue to cluster the peak Nina conditions in 3.4 to around 1.0 this winter- borderline weak to moderate. This is a far cry from the super Nina state it was showing 3 months ago. Early winter thoughts are overall warm but with a negative PDO- should be some volatility though.

Hell yea, instead of flash drought we just had a flash flood. Strongest storm I’ve seen in along time and it was a day where nothing was forecasted lol.
That happened to us last summer about this time of year.  And it wasn’t even terribly hot!  But it lasted a while and tore lots of trees.

MEG dropped the ball on the storm that just came through Dyersburg. Crazy wind. Just saw a huge tree on a car and powerlines down everywhere.
Wow!  I want rain but not that bad.  Hope you did not get messed up.  Still hot and dry here!

I've got my eyes on the Gulf Coast. GFS wants to spin something up. Other models are pointing to lots and lots of rain.
Either a TD or TS looks very likely now. Regardless of wind speeds, there could be huge rainfall amounts along the Texas coast.

We had maybe 10 sprinkles yesterday.  Having to water my garden and flowers.
Same here. Just enough to sizzle on the driveway.
