Frontal systems may tend to hang around in SE TN/GA/Carolinas as well with the upcoming pattern starting mid-week, hopefully giving some beneficial rains to our southern and eastern areas that need it the most.

Loving the look of this.

Looking at Chattnogga's forecast, things have been hotter and drier in SE TN versus the rest of the state.  The Virginias into the Carolinas are also under the spell due to their close proximity to the Bermuda and sometimes Bermuda/Sahara ridge complex. Those areas have seen more of a 1988, 1999, and 2016 type summer.

Over in the western and northern portions we have had more of a 2019 or 2022 type of summer.  A summer that is still decidedly above average but has also seen occasional days of relief due to the weakness in the merged ridge complex.

Has it been cooler where you live? Second hottest summer on record here so far. Only 1988 is ahead. I'd call that major heat and it's been locked in since the second week of June.

We have had several 1-3 day stretches of it getting hot (heat index 105) type stuff but have had constant relief every week basically with Northernly winds and cooler temps.  Nothing has locked in for 7+ plus days or anything like that.  Definitely doesn’t seem to be the 2nd hottest summer in NW TN anyway but maybe?  Maybe we lock into upper 90s for all of August and September but I doubt it.

Considering we know very little about the history of weather in comparison to what we know about weather the past 75 years or so I’d say it is just a cycle.  To say anything is a thing of the past based on something that happened just recently, I dunno.  Weather is going to be weather, no matter how hard man tries to act like we understand it we have no idea. Like analogs, most the time they are wrong because weather doesn’t just carbon copy itself just because some things are the same for that time period.

After this upcoming 4 day stretch of heat (the longest so far this summer) we break to cooler temps once again and more rain.  That’ll put us late into July territory with no major heat locking in still.  Doing an awesome job kicking that can farther down the road!

It's been hot, but certainly not the hottest I can remember.  We haven't had that many days of upper 90s....With that being said, I do good to remember what I had for breakfast by the time lunch rolls around, so take that with a grain of salt.

extremes in Summer are just longer and more intense than extremes in Winter around here.. is that just a matter of Latitude, climate change or pure randomness of weather dynamics?
