GFS looking sexy in the mid to long range. First freeze for some in long range. We will see if it holds.
This cool spell on the gfs is more than likely the real deal because a +PNA spike should happen allowing a decent front to come through in that 8-12 timeframe in October

DT thinks the eastern US may turn cooler around the middle of the month. I’m on board!

I believe it's temporary imo. First tate of fall, which typically happens in mid October. Sometimes earlier

Going shut the pool down this weekend.  As usual the leaves are dropping and the water is pretty chilly.

I would call 60s for highs a pretty significant cooldown, especially compared to where we have been.

Granted, usually, models moderate a bit and are sometimes a bit too quick on a pattern change. While at some point by the end of the 2nd week of Oct we will make that change as the PNA goes back up, it may not be as early as the 6th/7th.

This month is likely my driest ever. I have had no measureable rainfall at all.
Winter 2009-10 Snowfall: 11.5 in. :)
Winter 2010-11 Snowfall: 15.5 in. :)
Winter 2011-12: Trace
Winter 2012-2013: 0.25 in.
Winter 2013-14: 10.6 (9.5 on 2/12)
Winter 2014-2015: 10.25 in.
Winters 2015-2019: basically nothing
Winter 2019-2020:
2/8/20: 4.25

It would of been for me to if it wasn't for today. I got so lucky as did several north of 40 today for rain. I was kind of looking forward to seeing how dry we would actually get but I guess thats all screwed for me locally. Also all the rain that Kentucky got may help the river situation slow down its decline but probably wont help much more then that.

Plateau fizzled that stuff out for Chattanooga.. 3rd driest Sept in recorded history (official records back to 1879) I wonder if the pattern shifts in October or another dry month? At that point gotta worry about fires in Nov.

The latest 8-14 day outlook lost it bright red colors.  It now looks like we will get an actual fall cold front late next week as the Aleutian Island ridging shifts eastward and pops up a western ridge.

Probably won’t see a 90 degree high again until May after next week.

I haven't reached 90 since the first week of the month. Less than a 1/2" of rain for the month as well.
