Next week looks awesome. The week after that is back to the frying pan due to a Sonora/Bermuda ridge merger, although it will be a drier heat (dewpoints in the 60s versus upper 70s/near 80) so not quite as bad as this round.

HRR has it moving across the MS River around 1130. It’s going to hit some prime conditions for development after todays instability. Memphis at 102 now could hit 103 or 104 before it’s over. It will probably still be around 90 tonight when it comes thought. Fingers crossed for no power outages.

Not a bad August overall temperature wise. Likewise, meteorological summer mean temperature for TN was decent considering the record heat in other areas. Mean temperature anomaly for meteorological summer for TN was 0 to -1 F. I don’t recall a high temp over 97 F in MBY. Of course, there could still be some exceptionally hot days in September.

Temperature-wise, this summer as shown above was very manageable. I would say the humidity this summer was quite rough. I would probably only put 2016 and 2022 ahead of 2023 in West KY/NW TN as far as humidity/dewpoints go as far as being one of the most muggy/humid feeling summers. We saw this play out with some of the significant flash flooding/damaging wind events we experienced as well.
