March 2023

It’s time for March madness. I can throw a rock in one direction and hit a tornado and throw it the other direction and hit a blizzard.

Looks like about March 7-9 time frame things switch back cold. Low 50s and mid 30s.  Happens every single year during our spring break you can take that to the bank.  Going on 11 years now of cold spring breaks.

Our spring breaks back in the day always coincided with Easter which made them much later.

Both 0z GFS and 0z Euro suites suggest a severe weather outbreak for Dixie Alley.  That 500mb bowling ball whips right into a wide open warm sector late Thursday.  This one has potential.  Thankfully, though, all the nefariousness looks to stay south of the TN Valley.

Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama just have gotten the worst of it the past decade....I feel bad for them down that way

bears watching for sure , system appears slowing down on latest guidance …. Currently
Slight risk which hasn’t been mentioned . Interesting see if the system occludes and pinched off the warm front even further

Maybe in your neck of the woods but we are very much in play down here in the southeast corner lol

Notice I quantified my statement with "Thursday".  Your area, specifically, perhaps won't see any impact until Friday.  Whatever happens Thursday could very well impact what happens Friday.  These multi-day "events" are weird.

Yeah, there are some hints that winter may return around the middle of the month. Although significant below normal anomalies don’t always mean subfreezing temps in March it does appear to be so in this case. We shall see.
