We are down one month of death ridge with at least two perhaps three more to go.   

The only difference at least through the first 1/3rd of the month is that we get our daily popcorn thunderstorms back.

The first few days of the month have the potential to provide some drought relief for some of us, particularly here on the plateau and in the mountains. A good ol' MCS isn't out of the question over the 4th of July period. Frankly I'm rooting against that for selfish reasons (it's a busy time with a lot of outdoor events over the next few days) but it doesn't seem at all out of the question that many locations in this part of the state could pick up as much rain from Saturday-Tuesday as they picked up all of June.

I do like at least East TN to stay in a relatively wet pattern (or at least daytime storm popup pattern) even in the extended especially as the ridging gradually shifts westward.   

The Euro is Ridges R US in the extended as it looks to merge the Sonora Death Ridge with some Western Canadian ridging and perhaps a bit of Bermuda Ridge to throw 594 to 600dm heights from West TN to California and a ridge axis that goes up into Greenland just yikes!!!. 

Still, even that pattern probably supports at least daytime heating storm activity and perhaps an MCS for areas in East TN in the extended as well as the shorter term.

The EPS and GPS are fairly wet through the first 1/3rd of the month particularly in the Cumberland Plateau region and points east.

The bootheel and a strip to the south of me got a good rain last weekend. Not enough to settle the dust here since 6-10. Farmers need a rain bad. Zero wheat beans have come up.

Today was definitely classic "hit or miss" in Western KY and NW/NW Middle TN.  A few clusters of corn fields and lucky souls got a half-inch to even very locally 2+ inches of rain while some people (in some cases just 4-5 miles away) didn't even see a raindrop fall from the sky.

Storms were missing me all day. Then finally a storm devoped above my neighborhood and we ended up with 2 inches in 30 minutes.

 Summer time storms love to do little dances around your house. Sometimes they will bless you with enough rain to wet ground but to see and hear the storm for hours with .10-.20 to show for it really is depressing!

We are getting a little shower right now, but unless it pulses back up it looks like between the two days we will come out of this rainfall event with less than 1/4” total accumulation. Sigh.

It rained hard in West Nashville this afternoon for long enough to cause ponding on the roads. We also had a soaker last night before midnight. Been getting lucky. My yard is green again.

Will need to put East TN on MCS alert by Wednesday through Saturday.  Outside of those areas, it will be hotter than a firework as Middle and especially West TN try and do their best Persian Gulf impersonation this week.

Me and the kids shot few fireworks in back yard last night , developed a small grass fire pretty quick , so ones that have been missing these random showers be careful out there please .
