You just don't expect 30F dew points and near zero CAPE to be supportive of storms with severe-criteria winds.  It's highly unusual.
There is a rare-from of derecho called the low-dewpoint derecho I read about a few days ago.

I completely agree, again not blaming anybody for missing it in the forecast nobody expected it for sure....the issue was not extending the watch when it was clear based on radar it was not weakening at all and no nowcasting , I guarantee you people in north Bama were caught off guard

I was very surprised by the storm yesterday. Strongest storm of the year for Dyersburg and DP was 50.
