But what pokes holes in that is the VERY available video evidence of terrain having no significant affects on tornadoes on 4/27/2011, as an example.

Unless there is some definitive, concrete evidence that the relatively gentle bluff that Memphis has over the River impacting tornado genesis or path continuation across the river, I would say it’s more chance than anything else. It says there could be a correlation but it’s not clear cut as some folks in Memphis like to think.

Well, if you read it... It's mainly a wind issue with the river being a wind corridor...
Something that doesn't happen with disjointed hills.

On the Mississippi River alone, only one county east shore county from Bolivar County, MS to Union County, IL has experienced an EF4+ event.


On the Mississippi/Ohio route, you have that same stretch of only one county between Bolivar County, MS to Breckinridge County, KY.... Where the river essentially runs east west.

These are tremendous stretches here... yet it appears to not be a factor along the southernmost stretch of the river bordering Mississippi. 

Furthermore, these areas are largely amongst the earliest settled and most populated areas of their states, so this can't be due to lack of historical record or lack of observation.

based on pure luck.  If anything you would thin the tornado should ingest more moisture from the body of water from the ms river ... makes sense

It is the cold water of the Mississippi River from snow melt. Fish spawn much later in the river compared to all other bodies of water.
