Quarter size hail reported In Hendersonville. So far no reports of wind damage but I expect that to change when morning comes.

The storms moving into middle Tennessee looks interesting; like vertical lines.

The threat for any appreciable severe weather is almost NIL now as the outflow boundary is surging southeastward and undercutting the cells moving east. Maybe some hail up to dime size and gusts to 50mph, but the threat is pretty much over.

As often happens the storms largely died out by the time they reached East TN and we got plenty of rain overnight but not really any storms. The big win for this system was the weather we had throughout the day on Sunday.

My very favorite time to be outside is ahead of a storm coming in, with the feel of a storm in the air, a warm breeze, and just all the energy in the atmosphere. Usually that's short lived and the storm rolls through, but yesterday stayed like that for hour after hour, most of which I was outside for. Maybe not as exciting as a big snow or a good lightning show, but I was grateful for the experience.

I was sitting on a rocker on the front porch of Cracker Barrel at Strawberry Plains for about 45 minutes yesterday and it was a glorious feeling to be out there in the warm breeze. I ordinarily refuse to wait for a table but that wait was quite enjoyable.

For the entirety of this event (Friday through this morning) I recorded about 2 and a quarter inches of rain.  No flooding.  Just a good soaking spring rain.

I had to laugh a little at the two metal folding chairs still sitting upright on the thing as it was floating down at 1:10.

That thing is huge, it must have broken off from a marina somewhere. Thankfully it's just a dock and not a barge. For those that remember they had to shut down a bridge over I-40 during the East TN floods a couple of years ago when a set of barges broke loose from their tow and were headed for an interstate bridge.
