The demographic shift from rural to urban is very fascinating.

Can you imagine if a supply chain was restricted to the urban dwellers? Even most people in the suburbs wouldn't have a clue how to fend for themselves, despite having some arable land available.

Yeah, its a real mindf**k when you really think through the ag supply chains needed to feed a large portion of our citizenry.

West Tennessee generally got a lot less than they were expecting, too. This whole event was a loss for most people in our forum area. Only if you were right along the Mississippi River you were saved from that ugly arse warm nose from screwing up your totals beyond repair.

I guess I'm ready for spring, but I really am not eager to dive into another 8 months of hot, humid air. The summers here are long, wet (usually) and nasty. I've lived here for some time now, but at this point, I'm seriously thinking about packing my things. The climate here is frankly very depressing to me.

Update

I was really moaning in here before we got a little dose of snow. However, I'm a man of my word. I'm actually packing up in August and heading to the great white north.

Where you headed ?

Oswego, NY, to attend SUNY. Moving from hardly any snow at all to a place where houses get buried in it  :)

You'll of course be rubbing our faces in it come winter time. While we argue about whether the boundary layer will be sufficient to squeeze out a few wet flakes out of departing system, you'll be like:

I gather from some of your posts that you were really ready to get back to school and finish your degree. Congratulations on finding the right spot to do that and good luck!

This weather is BS. I am unreasonably angry about having to run the AC on Christmas day.

No kidding. Old Man Winter owes us a statewide 4" or greater snowfall in January for this sacrilege on Christmas.

Man, yesterday was unbelievable. People outside enjoying the company of neighbors, running, biking, kids playing with toys. I’ve got a few white Christmas mornings under my belt, if it’s not going to snow, I’ll take mild and sunny.

Enjoying the La Niña sunshine thus far.

Not to be that guy but this is the 2020-21 thread.  That winter that was actually decent.

For the dumpster fire that is this winter refer to the 2021-2022 thread.
