The rain and cold (and maybe snow) are coming, but this week has been some perfect fall weather with warm afternoons, nice breezes, and long shadows.  The winter weather is exciting, but days like the past couple are my real favorites of fall.

The snowman is in da house, LOL! I got to thinking it was last year on the 12th I am pretty sure that we had a little ice and freezing rain. I was very minor overall and it may have been around the 14th. Just thought is was kind of funny that it seems like we are going to have a system around the same time as last year even though it will probably be minor as well.  ::popcorn:: ::cold:: ::snowman::

GFS has freezing rain here next Thursday. Looks like some rain showers maybe followed by a flurry or two Tuesday.

What's the earliest in the season that Nashville has had a day that didn't get above freezing?

Posting in FALL, because it's still FALL, regardless of the precip type and temps.

Just saw a tweet from the Smokies NPS stating Hwy 441(Newfound Gap Rd) is closed between Gatlinburg and Cherokee due to snow and ice. Definitely didn't expect to see that!

At the airport it appears to be November 15 (1940).

Yep. Looks like we're going to come pretty close to that mark.

The GFS is still holding on to this thing. So is the Euro. The NAM will be in range tomorrow, so we'll see how this plays out. I doubt we'll see much accumulation (if at all) but this is neat to have so early in the season.

And yes, it is still fall. I'm posting in the fall thread.

Probably one of the most extreme months in recent memory as far as temperature anomalies.

Now it looks like that deep blue is over us now.

The models runs are showing a consistent 1-2 inch band of snow especially I-40 and points south.

Granted the warm ground temperatures and drier air will more than likely equal a dusting to 1 inch, but there is a signal for a heavier band and for someone to get some grassy accumulation.  The overnight timing will help a bit as well.

So.... models still have it

Why am I falling into this trap... again? I know full well it isn't going to snow on November 11th in Tennessee.

Yet here I am checking model runs twice per day. I'm a dork.

It may or may not snow, but how would you know that? Some of us are old enough to remember snow this early and earlier. Itís just been a while.
