any town called Peter sink deserves to be that cold ... lol
Name aside- the feature is quite fascinating. It’s a natural high elevation sinkhole with a legit weather station in the Utah Wasatch. Natural drainage causes temps to drop 30-40 degrees as it naturally slopes downward .
The NAM (yes, it is that time of year again) says that many locations in the northern half of the state along with the Plateau and the Mtns will see its first flakes of the winter season tonight. This unseasonably strong blast of cold air ushered in by the front should be able to squeeze some frozen precipitation out of the relatively moist air for some of our residents. Those living above 2000 ft/600m might witness some accumulation.
No freeze here yet. It was far too windy last night. Got down to 33. I'm betting on 29 tonight with clear skies and calmer wind.
It looks like we continue our trend of cold Novembers especially now that we look to have ridging out west. That will allow for the bitter cold air that has invaded out west last month to move into our area.
it be December till we some severe weather ...
Interesting to note that after a record warm and dry September, Memphis ended up a tad below normal for October (despite 3 days in the upper 90’s) and also recorded its wettest on record at just shy of 13 inches of rain. Proof that if you don’t like the weather in Tennessee, stick around a little longer.
