Probably one of the ugliest falls (foliage-wise) I can remember. The drought and heat at the end of summer and first of fall took a toll. I feel like we were on the verge of seeing some decent color on the trees that still had leaves a couple of weeks ago. We have a small maple in the front that was starting to turn red. But, it seems like that hard freeze last week pretty well nuked most of the leaves left on the trees. The leaves seemed to shrivel and die on the branches after those mornings in the teens before they had a chance to show much color. It's odd since it seems like the "detach" mechanism was even halted. I'm just seeing a lot of trees full of dead, brown leaves. At this point, let's just get a windy, rainy system in here to strip the trees of what's left and move on to the winter look.
Mmmm... euro long range...
So much severe? Daily severe on top of severe?
Quit vagueposting and spill the goods!
If y'all are talking about the system that's showing up around Thanksgiving, both temps and dew points are going to have to exceed progged values. The nearest 60F Td is south of Mobile. 991mb surface low over SE IA should provide some gustiness, but I'm not seeing much more than a typical frontal passage with a rather benign air mass behind it.
plenty time for details ... h5 pattern looks like a severe setup ... looks like winter going be on hold for while ...
