The NAM (yes, it is that time of year again) says that many locations in the northern half of the state along with the Plateau and the Mtns will see its first flakes of the winter season tonight. This unseasonably strong blast of cold air ushered in by the front should be able to squeeze some frozen precipitation out of the relatively moist air for some of our residents.

Those living above 2000 ft/600m might witness some accumulation.  ::snowman::

For all the talk we had about a pattern breaking change 2-5 inches of rain for the whole board and a 30-40 degree temperature drop with the passage of the front should get all of us in the spirit for fall.  I may bake a pecan pie this weekend and eat it next to my first fire of the season to welcome in Thanksgiving month  ::yum::

Actually have a little rain snow mix going on on . Flakes are actually discernible too.

We started the month at 98 degrees and going to end it with a little flake action.

Yep just had some decent flakes falling here in Newbern.  I asked about 3 weeks ago when the last time it snowed on Halloween was around here.  For some reason just had a gut feeling we would see some this year.

Storms are starting to pop a bit in East Tennessee; we've now got a Severe Thunderstorm Warning active until 11:45.

Glad to see I'm not the only one watching my outdoor thermometer.  We were at 72 degrees at 10:45 and are down to 60 degrees right now.  The real drop was preceded by about 10 minutes of really gusty winds that announced the front was here.  It's a good day to be a weather watcher  ::popcorn::

We've unfortunately had what appears to be a storm related fatality in Knoxville with a tree limb striking a car. There are also some roads closed east of Knoxville due to power poles leaning over the roadway. While the footprint is small the severe storms we've had today are taking a toll.
