Rain with a little sleet here Smyrna. My friend who lives ten miles away has a coating of snow already.

Looks like I'm getting into the dry slot now (if that's the right technical term)... precip has slacked off.  But, plenty more to come.
Your dry slot made it to Smyrna airport - precip all but stopped for a moment. Waiting to see what happens next.

Gave the clouds the stare down until some sleet finally fell out.

This was one of the best set ups we've had in years and it completely busted.  Memphis gets the shaft again.

Come on now. Ya'll have gotten several bowling balls over the last couple years with sick totals. Nashville hasn't seen more than 4 inches in 13 years

::applause::  Happy that Nashville and central TN finally seeing the snow you've waited too long for.  Hope the thumping is memorable and historic.

Take a look at the Huntsville radar. The lull will not last long.

Hoping CKV can get into the heavier returns like Nashville it is building to the south and west of me still. Good snow falling but not super heavy. Congrats Nashville! ::fingerscrossed:: ::popcorn:: ::cold:: ::snowman::

There will be breaks.  You will see banding with this, but things are just getting started.  Just sit back and enjoy the show.

For discussion of the epic bust in the Mid-South,

I've created a containment thread.  There is no need for us to poison this thread with negativity for those who are (rightfully and deservedly) look to be enjoying a great (perhaps generational) event that has been a long time coming.  Let's remember that our Nashville brethren have suffered arguably more than we have and try to be happy for them.  Our gripe thread is here:

http://tennesseewx.com/index.php?topic=3693.msg208202#msg208202

Let me be the first to say to our friends that are getting a great event:  congratuluations and enjoy it- we love all of you and this community here.  I have conflicting emotions- I'm happy for all of you yet a bit angered and bitter about what happened over this way.

Put on my big snow boots and
I boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues
In the middle of the freezing rain

Snow up high
Won't you pour down over me
Yeah, I got some accretion
But I'm as blue as a boy can be

Way to go Nashville. I think after this storm Chattanooga will be back behind Nashville again in the 5 year running snow totals. This one storm may be enough to erase that deficit. Enjoy it, y'all deserve it.

Like the sound of it.  I will feel much better when the flakes start flying here.  Been this close before to see it bust.  This might be the closest ever.  Now need to just cross the finish line.
