Another person has been found dead here. I don't know many details, just that it is an older lady and she was found near where the other two were found.

I have recorded 18.19 inches of rain so far in 2010. Some people in west TN got at least that much if not more this weekend. Kinda puts it in perspective.
Winter 2009-10 Snowfall: 11.5 in. :)
Winter 2010-11 Snowfall: 15.5 in. :)
Winter 2011-12: Trace
Winter 2012-2013: 0.25 in.
Winter 2013-14: 10.6 (9.5 on 2/12)
Winter 2014-2015: 10.25 in.
Winters 2015-2019: basically nothing
Winter 2019-2020:
2/8/20: 4.25

I'm not sure WE predicted anything.  I don't think ANY of us knew it was going to get as bad as it did.  Yeah, the HPC precip. accum. maps showed a sizable bulls-eye over the area, but there's no way anybody could've seen the total amounts doubling, in some places tripling, the progged output.  There's a big difference between interpreting model data and forecasting/predicting per se.  I'd like to think WE as a forum do a rather decent job at interpreting model data...we'll leave the forecasting/predicting to the experts.   ;D

This is quite true.  Generally speaking, the HPC precip maps OVERFORECAST the amount of rain for a particular system.  Unfortunately, in this case, they massively UNDERFORECAST the totals..

Just wanted to throw a little humor in, to keep our wits about this:

Apparently "Record-setting" wasn't enough. CNN had to invent the term "Tecord-setting" to accurately describe the flooding.

Speaking of CNN, WKRN reported late last night that they finally decided to show up. Anderson Cooper is supposed to be live from Nashville tonight.

1.5 Billion Dollars worth of damage is estimated in Nashville alone.  I got this from News 5.

Usually our most destructive events are in the millions, and to have an event do a billion dollars worth of damage esp. in one city/county is words can't describe it.

That amount doesn't even include infrastructure and the areas they haven't checked...just early estimates to businesses and the homes they've checked.

A stunning number to one county...will shudder to see the number for the entire state.
