Wow, this turned out to be a significant event for some areas, then.

Yes it did. East Tennessee seems to be getting quite an event. Even here in middle Tennessee a few events. Now we get ready for 60 degree weather before the next cold spell about mid month.

Welcome to the Site snowlover.  :)

Thanks for the report snowlover.

Seems this one surprised the Chattanooga area.

Things seem to be snowcovered on the Plateau. TDOT raod map showing snow covered roads in cumberland county as well as Monteagle mountain. Be careful if traveling east on 40 or se on 24.

Snow falling in parts of East Tennessee; Highway 441 closed through Smoky Mountains

Snowfall has caused some hazardous driving in the area, closed the main road through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and forced at least one school system to cancel classes for Wednesday.Advertisement

Snow began falling in Scott County around two o-clock Tuesday afternoon. The precipitation then moved south and west across East Tennessee. Snow began falling in Gatlinburg around seven thirty Tuesday evening.

Little, if any, accumulation is expected in Knoxville and other valley areas, but mountain areas could see several inches overnight.

Officials with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park shut down Highway 441 early Tuesday evening. That's the main road through the park, passing through Newfound Gap into North Carolina.

Most local school systems are still out for winter holidays, but several are scheduled to resume classes Wednesday.

School in McCreary and Leslie Counties, Kentucky have cancelled classes for Wednesday due to the weather. Click Here to see a complete list of closings.

Stay tuned to WBIR, wbir.com, and 10 Weather Plus for the latest on the winter weather.

We wound up with about an inch at my house, a little more in other areas of the county.

All in all, pretty much what I expected.

We got a dusting, but it looked magnificent while it was falling.  I'll be hopeful for more later on.

Hubby got a couple of pics last night, so I'll load them up in a bit.

WELCOME SNOWLOVER!!
