It MATTERS where your Weather Gauge is SET
« on: August 08, 2007, 07:31:56 AM »
The one that is set where it NEEDS to be showed 98.9' yesterday afternoon.

The one that is on my rain gauge (which no longer works properly for some reason)...sets on the ground, faces the WEST side of the house...and yesterday????  It recorded 122.1' !!!!!!!

Soooooooo all those OFFICIAL gauges that are setting in "bad" spots..(let's see maybe those set at airports or on city streets)...DO record us hotter than we actually are...

I wish I could remember who did studies on that, but I saw it on the news  one night.

Does it really matter? LOL.

/I'm joking of course. But it's just plain ole DANG HOT! I jogged again yesterday at 3pm. Something just fun about sweating your arse off and everyone looking at you as you run by like you're a loon. :D

I lied...it's all lies...It doesn't matter

It's hot because humans are destroying the earth....by breathing....It's all that hot air, you know.  We all just need to hold our breaths...then we'll be okay..

While we're at it..Let's buy up all the aluminum foil and stick it on our heads and reflect the sun's rays...

WE'RE GONNA DIE!!  WE'RE GONNA DIE!!!!

AHEM.... ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

arf...(jogging at 3 in the afternoon... ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)  )

If I'm not mistaken, those sensors are shielded from sunlight (I mean the ASOS stations). Because, my temperature sensor here is shielded, and the ASOS station at Memphis International (about 7 miles from here) always reports lower temps than me...

But it does aggravate me when people upload to weather websites and they don't properly set their station up...when temps of 120 are reported... >:(

I had to run and do a LOT more at Boot Camp in Texas in August where the temp was 113' in full long sleeve BDUs. It doesn't bother me at all to jog in shorts when the temp is only 100'F. Trick is just to stay hydrated. 1 canteen per half hour. :D

Try to keep your sensor as far away from your house and/or anything that radiates heat as you can, especially anything brick, concrete, or asphault.

Mine is mounted on a tree, a good twenty feet away from my house in the back yard.  When I last checked yesterday, I believe the hottest temperature I've hit so far is 97.5... and, I think that was yesterday.
