Sorta brownish?  luv4tn, most lawns around here are dead.

I have a patch of green grass around a young maple tree in my yard that I've watered a couple of times over the last month (it's young enough that I was concerned for its survival).  The rest of the yard is crispy... just waiting for a cigarette to be tossed out of a passing car to set it ablaze.  Farmers are having to buy feed for their livestock, because there's no living grass in the pastures for the animals to eat.

We desperately need rain.  I'm hoping a weather pattern change in a couple of weeks will not only mean cooler temperatures but more importantly... some rainy days.  We'll need several widespread rain systems to even begin to recover from this thing.

I've got two close neighbors whose springs have gone dry.  Luckily for us ours is still going.  I think that 2.50" rain we were lucky to get in July has kept ours charged up good enough to make til fall.

Since being nearly 5.000 miles away makes me worry too much probably ... thanks for the "insight". I am not worrying less now, but I am prepared to what I might see in a little more than a week.

Hey Coach, we have two springs and ours are still putting out water too.  Wish I had the capability to irrigate around the house with it........just another project to put on the list.  The only green grass in the yard is around the spring fed pond.

Sweet blessings from heaven.

It rained tonight!!!  I'm not sure how much around here.  The lightning from the storms was quite vivid though.  Looks like areas to the south and east got the most.

The good news is that parts of the area have picked up some rain over the last couple of days.  And, I even noticed some greening of the grass taking place in the Brentwood area (just south of Nashville) today. :)

It's obvious who's been watering their lawns though, as some lawns are greener than others.  But, for a lot of areas, the grass is yellow and has that winter-time dormant look.

There are restrictions on watering in some areas, like Williamson County, for example.

I read about that ... and that tells me about how serious this problem is.

But my biggest weather concern right now is the weather in Atlanta. I really hope there won`t be any storms on saturday. Monitoring my flight from ATL to BNA since last Monday and only on two nights they weren't late up to 3 hours ...  :o

We got over 1.6" Friday night.  Then got lucky Sat afternoon and picked up another 1.5".  Over three inches in two days.   The ground must have sucked it all right up because there was no flow at all in the little creek.

Wow.  You were blessed!  :o  :)

Here in northern Middle TN, I think folks probably did well to get a few tenths at most.  It looks like the monthly precipitation here in Nashville still stands at a meager .08 inch.  :(

Latest Drought Forecast looking much better. Lets hope we can keep this up through the spring. The farmers need it.

I understand that this is an old dispute. But without the drought they probably wouldn't have digged it up again ...  :o

Interesting.

Of course, you know this means war!  (pronounced *wahwuh*)

The Governor better send our troops down to the border to stand our ground.

If we conceded on that, it would mess up our only straight border.  Our southern border is such a nice straight line from Memphis to Chattanooga.
