Snow possibilities for Sat/Sun Feb. 17-18
« on: February 12, 2007, 03:51:27 PM »
James Spann has posted that Northern Alabama will see 1-2" of snow outta the clipper we have coming in this weekend.  With that being said, could the amounts be a touch higher the more north you get?  The latest GFS slates 1-3" for them.  It looks much better for us this run.

Even an inch or two would excite me with what we've had so far this winter. :D But given the track record this winter and the fact that this IS a clipper system we're talking about, I won't get excited until snow is accumulating. :D

Indications now are that this next shot of cold weather (and it looks quite cold for late week) may be the last for a while.  So, if something doesn't work out by this weekend, then it's back to mildness... and for all practical purposes, IMO... spring.

That never rules out a renegade late season cold snap and March surprises, though.

Here's to one last hurrah for this winter.  If it doesn't happen this weekend, I'm through with winter.  Bring on the warm temps!  (Just not too soon, I'm not hardly in pool-form yet...still working on the holiday extra, if you know what I mean!)

I plan on having more than a few maters this year....

I plan on putting in some maters this year too. We'll see how it goes. I grew up on a farm and putting in a garden in a neighborhood in my backyard almost seems like sacrelidge, but I'm going to give it a go.

Well, when the warm temps do arrive, at least we'll have thunderstorms to chase around.  They seem to be a little more [revalent in our area than the old snow is.

12z GFS still have us getting a little love Saturday.  A pretty impressive looking clipper for this area.  1-3" looks do-able at this point.  Considering how bad the winters have stunk the past few years, 1-3" is pretty good.

I think we have a pretty good shot at a little snow this weekend.  Especially, since its a long holiday weekend. ;)  At least that was the pattern the last several years.

The absolute BEST scenario for me is to get snow on a holiday weekend. I HAVE to be at work Sat. and Mondays. Something about that "neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" stuff. ARGG.  ::)

I think I'm just going to downplay it.

I've noticed that it seems to work out better when I downplay it.  ::)

Of course, if the snow catches on that this is my strategy, then it will call my bluff, and we'll still get nothing.

Oh, pity, I CAN'T WIN!!!  ;) :D
