Roll the dice for Monday-Tuesday event

The models seem to be pretty consistent now in keeping us in the possible rain/snow area. I think it is going to be the classical roll the dice event where northern TN may see all snow, middle TN sees snow/sleet/freezing rain and southern TN sees mostly rain/freezing rain/flurries. What I dont understand is why WKRN has the temps rising after the event while the GFS seems to show the cold air digging in a bit more after the event passes.
One thing the models seem to be doing now though is pumping more moisture up with this storm. Which is a great thing...for those that get mostly snow. Bad for those that get the ice. It will be interesting to see how the models continue to depict this storm. Unfortunately the GFS usually has a cold bias, so I expect the rain/snow line to slowly creep north as we get closer to the event.
I still think we will have a couple more decent shots at snow between now and the end of the month. As some have already alluded to, it is going to get downright cold in the weeks to come.

I agree, snowdog. The infamous "trending northward" is what I'm concerned about as well... that's why I'm not completely biting yet and won't be totally devastated when later model runs don't go in our favor.
But, this DEFINITELY bears watching.

I would hate to be on an ICE line...YIKES...
This is the only time I wished we had a chimney or alternate heating, rather than electricity.
Everyone (on air, that is) seems to be talking "COLDER", but it hasn't reflected in their extendeds (i.e. 7-day forecast overview)
We'll see, but at least we have some hope...
And where's Ron?..What happened in KY? And will he have enough deer meat in the freezer for all of us to come over if we lose our electricity???

Yeah, the mets are being very very cautious about the upcoming storm and cold for that matter. It will be interesting to see what the News2 mets have to say later today about the upcoming event. Accuweather has a graphic out that has the snow/ice line around southern TN. Of course at this point take that with a grain of salt.

By the way, just as a suggestion...
Let's try to keep discussions about the same event in the same thread. I have no problem if someone wants to start a new thread to focus on a particular aspect of an event. But, I've noticed in most weather forums, people generally prefer to keep the same event discussion in one thread where possible. It just makes everything easier to keep up with.
The thread Ron originally started for this weekend's possible event is
Possible Winter Weather Jan 20-22?
.
Thanks.

GET OUTTA MY HEAD!!!!!!
I was thinking the same thing too...We do need to keep things tightened up, or the fragmented folders could get out of hand quickly.
You are correct, sir!!

It's all good snowdog.
Whats up servo! I'm back from KY. And yes, I have plenty of deer in the freezer still so if we get a shellackin, yall just come on over to my house for a TNWeatherZone Winter party. I love those snowed in parties. Ahhh the memories (or lack of). Beer n darts with the Wx Channel on in the background.
