That yellow font you're using strains my eyes, at least on the background I have (yellow on white).  I have to select and highlight the text you posted just to read it.

I think there's a profile setting that causes different color backgrounds for different people.  That affects how colored fonts show up.

EDIT:  Actually, it's a little easier to read now.  The posts alternate between a light gray and a slightly darker shade of gray.  Now, your post is on the darker shade of gray, and the yellow shows up a little better.  :D

What we have to hope doesn't happen is if we get that evil nose of warm air that kills us every time.  :x

I would also like to see those forecasted highs come down a little bit.  The NWS is showing near 40 on Sunday.  It would be better if we're in the low 30s or colder.

But, there's still time to watch the different variables.

Here's the HWO from Jouisville, seems they're on board with this.  Look at the bold text:

Here's a snippet from John Belski's Blog, concerning this weekend:

Quote
Tuesday late evening
OK...a weather system moving through Sunday night can change a lot between now and then. It can stregthen or weaken and the track can change...sometimes a lot. But, since we have only had 1/2 inch of snow this winter, any chance for snow will cause some excitement. I see TWC is calling for rain or snow showers Sunday and Monday. For now....and I will update this every day.....I feel the Sunday night system has the potential for a 2 to 4 inch snowfall. I usually don't like to talk numbers this far out because nothing may come of it, however, all of the snow lovers are hanging on to every chance for snow so for now we will continue to "Think Snow."

per LOU's am discussion:

ENSEMBLES SHOW STRONGLY POSITIVE PNA PATTERN TO SET UP NEXT
WEEK...AND VERY AMPLIFIED SOLUTIONS GIVING THE EASTERN CONUS A LARGE
TROUGH. COLDER THAN NORMAL AND QUICK HITTING CLIPPERS MAY REIGN
THROUGH THE WEEK GIVEN THAT PATTERN...EXTENDED PERIOD OF WINTER LIKE
 WEATHER FINALLY HERE TO STAY.

This sounds good to me whether or not this next system hits or misses.  We'll get ours eventually.

I don't want to say too much about it... but, there is considerable chatter now about the magnitude of the cold air coming the week after next... along the lines of "historic", "coldest in years", etc.  But, you know how things can be over-hyped.  The models are apparently hinting at this though.

The pattern is such that we are exposed to potentially successive outbreaks of Arctic air.  As the snowpack increases in northern regions, each outbreak may be colder than the one before.

Just thought I would throw that out there for what it's worth.

I remember (78 and possibly 82), where it just seemed like it stayed cold FOREVER...and it was because of the SNOW PACK, even on the bright, sunny days...Well you know what happens to there...BOUNCE!

I wonder if anyone has satellite pictures of the snow packs in those years? :?:  :?:  :?:

From the other thread...

Quote from: "snowdog"
Yeah, the mets are being very very cautious about the upcoming storm and cold for that matter.  It will be interesting to see what the News2 mets have to say later today about the upcoming event.  Accuweather has a graphic out that has the snow/ice line around southern TN.  Of course at this point take that with a grain of salt.

It is interesting how conservative the Nashville market is... both the NWS and TV stations... on these wintry situations.  I've already noticed how much more aggressive Memphis has been this morning with the scenario... even though, Nashville could be in a more favorable position for snow.

Yep, seems like BNA is always slow to pull the trigger; however, I see that Morristown has already issued an SPS for the Sun-Mon event!  I think that's a little premature but what do I know.

Well I'm back from a weekend in Kentucky, and it's looking pretty encouraging. I feel like a kid that's not sure if Santa will bring him that new bike at Christmas. We're used to being disappointed around here.

I can totally understand OHX being gunshy about this. Just think about the last couple years winter wx that hasn't panned out for them. Besides, MRX has higher elevations that will get frozen precip for sure with anything that comes through in this kind of pattern. They can be right and still be wrong in the extended. ;)
Views expressed are my personal views and opinions and should not take the place of official forecasts and warnings issued by the NWS and your local media.

Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!  Look what LITTLE ROCK, AR is saying in their HWO this morning

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY

A MAJOR WINTER STORM COULD BE SHAPING UP FOR PARTS OF ARKANSAS THIS
WEEKEND.

IT IS TOO SOON TO PINPOINT DETAILS BUT AN UPPER LEVEL LOW IS
EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH THE AREA SOMETIME SUNDAY OR LATER
WITH A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DEVELOPING IN THE GULF ON SUNDAY AND
MOVING TO THE EAST. IT LOOKS LIKE MOISTURE WILL EASILY BE PLENTIFUL
ENOUGH FOR SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF PRECIPITATION. THE CRITICAL
ELEMENT WILL BE TEMPERATURES AT THE SURFACE AND ALOFT. SOME
AREAS IN ARKANSAS COULD RECEIVE HEAVY SNOW...HEAVY SLEET...
SIGNIFICANT FREEZING RAIN...OR A COMBINATION OF THIS. TRAVEL
WILL BECOME HAZARDOUS WHERE THIS OCCURS. CHANCES OF HEAVY WINTER
PRECIPITATION WILL BE HIGHER TO THE NORTH AND LOWER TO THE SOUTH.

PEOPLE ACROSS THE AREA SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND
STATEMENTS ON WHAT COULD BECOME A SERIOUS WINTER WEATHER
SITUATION IN SOME PARTS OF THE STATE.

From the sublime....to the..well...you know..From OHX:

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN
424 AM CST WED JAN 17 2007

.DISCUSSION...
CLOUDS WILL PROBABLY HANG IN MOST OF THE DAY. THAT NECESSITATES
SHAVING A FEW DEGREES OFF THE GFS MOS HIGH FOR MOST LOCATIONS.
A WEAK VORTLOBE SWINGS THRU THE MIDWEST TONIGHT AND KEEPS THE
AREA PARTLY CLOUDY OVERNIGHT. THIS SHOULD...HOWEVER...ALLOW
TEMPS TO DROP DOWN INTO THE MID/UPPER 20S OVER MOST OF THE AREA.
THEN WE GET A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH/FRONT SWEEPING EWD THROUGH THE
AREA THU EVE. NO PRECIP EXPECTED WITH THIS FEATURE, BUT MORE COLD
AIR PUSHES INTO THE AREA. LOW PRESSURE BEGINS TO FORM OVER THE WRN
GULF OF MEXICO THU NGT THRU FRI NGT AS THE H5 LOW...CURRENTLY ALONG
THE CA COAST...PUSHES EWD OUT OF THE SRN ROCKIES INTO THE SRN PLAINS
BY SUN AM. THIS WILL BRING THE WEST GULF LOW NEWD INTO THE DEEP
SOUTH AND ACROSS MS/AL/GA SUN AND SUN NGT. THIS THE COMBINATION
OF GULF MOISTURE WITH COLD AIR TO THE NORTH WITH GIVE US A MARGINAL
RAIN/SNOW SITUATION FOR THIS TIME PERIOD. FORECAST WAS WORDED
ACCORDINGLY. LOW PUSHES ON TO THE EAST BY MON AM
...ONLY TO HAVE
ANOTHER WEST GULF LOW FORM IN RESPONSE TO ANOTHER H5 WAVE COMING
OUT OF THE LOWER ROCKIES ON TUE.
