My wallet is certainly enjoying this weather!
Earth transforms sunlight's visible light energy into infrared light energy, which leaves Earth slowly because it is absorbed by greenhouse gases. When people produce greenhouse gases, energy leaves Earth even more slowly Ė raising Earth's temperature. http://www.howglobalwarmingworks.org/

Looks like another soaker system moving in Friday, and a cool, damp weekend ahead.  This October has strayed from the previous two and delivered far more moisture than normal.

Nice! Seems like I went straight from AC to having to run the heat for at least a little while. Have already run the woodstove three or four mornings. Hoping for some more open windows weather.

It should be noted that we will likely finish October average to even slightly above average just because of how strong the + departure from average was on the first 10 days of the month.  Currently, Nashville is at +3.8F and Paducah +2.8 on the month.  We will have below average temps for the remainder but it probably only knock us down to about 0 to +1 for the departure.

It is a shame its not a little deeper into winter.  The system that is moving through today would have been a nice snow event for our neck of the woods if it were Jan-Feb.

Just enjoyed those few moments of pure uncertainty as I tested the heating system before I found myself actually in needing of it. Happy to say it passed the smell test. Now to get someone to inspect the chimney. Anyone here around Nashville/Bellevue with a recommendation for a fair priced annual inspection?

We've always had great luck working with Hiller in Knoxville and they're in Nashville as well.

Fall finally showing it's colors around the area with the recent cool weather.  Red maples in the yard have turned a deep burgundy, red oaks are turning red, and tulip trees are showing some yellow (but not that many yet).  Some sugar maples are also showing off their trademark orange.  I'd say peak colors will be over the next 1-2 weeks.

Good time to sell umbrellas around these parts.
