Snow just started here.  Temp 33.8 and falling.  What a surprise.  I'm intrigued at what would cause a small scale snow shower like this.
You may get a overperformer work in your favor. ::fingerscrossed:: ::snowman::

It is really coming down in downtown Knoxville. Temp: 34F. Sticking easily on the grass. Roads will be slick soon.

The heaviest part of the snow band has stayed just north of me, moving into Jefferson County.  But, it's just fun to have something to track at this point.   ::coffee::

Looking at the radar, I don't know how much longer it will last, but it's a nice surprise, nonetheless.

I left Cleveland TN at 4pm to visit family in Dayton Ohio this weekend.  Iím on 75N in Northern Kentucky (stopped to get gas).

Not the smartest move Iíve made in my life.

Down to 32.3 now.  Light snow still falling, but radar trends show our freak snow shower on the wane.  Still pretty cool.   One thing it did do was make the roads wet again.  Could be some ice forming now that we're slipping below freezing.

Nothing made it NE of Morristown yet. Hearing reports of light snow in the Morristown area though...

Wind howling here and rapid temp drop in past hour.

It will be interesting to see if we get continued development in northern parts of East Tennessee tonight. The 00z NAM soundings for NE TN have 850mb temps dropping to -10C and below later tonight. Northwest flow and steepening low level lapse rates contribute to upward vertical motion, which is evident on 850mb VV charts (especially along the mountain counties).  Model QPF doesnít look too impressive, but these situations can over perform. It still might not amount to much, but it's something to watch.

Radar returns moved off in that direction.  Hopefully, you'll see some flakage.

It's 31 here now and a very fine snow or drizzle still falling.  Deck starting to freeze over.

Looks like an average of about 2 inches of snow and sleet combined in Memphis. Wish I was there to experience, but congrats to all the winners especially further northeast. Plenty of winter left for a nice snowstorm for all.

Radar has picked up on more snow south of Knox just when I thought it was over.  :)

Down to 29 here, and the wind is still gusting over 20mph.  That has flash frozen the deck and my sidewalk.  I'm not sure how the roads are, but I'm not going anywhere to find out.   ::sleeping::

Here's MEG's depiction of today's event...not a block buster but a decent event. I think the totals for Desoto county are low...we easily had 2.5" Sn/PL combined in Olive Branch.
