Some strange almost stationary radar returns are increasing around the Knoxville area.  Not sure if it's precipitation or what.  Temperature 39 now, so it's cold enough for sleet or snow.

Here comes the snow. Davidson county boom in precip. Wilson county poof its gone lol. Its like it hits a wall each time it cross's the river going into Wilson.

The snow gods heard you complain one too many times about hating powder snow.

Well, I heard a new one today. My flight was eventually cancelled due to ice in the turbine blades. The deicing crews at BNA were definitely working overtime. Now I get to try again tomorrow.  ::fingerscrossed::

LOL...it does seem to go *poof* as it crosses I-40.  Amazing how a layer of concrete and asphalt on the ground can affect weather.  Who said we can't control it?   :D
It'll come back around at some point. I'm 50 miles south of Nashville/I 40 and we outdid Nashville something like 7 or 8 years in a row when we first moved.
It does seem like NW TN has hit on more than their share of big events with staying power the last few years. I'll admit I'm jealous of sleet and significant snow cover that will hang around for a week.

Logically that does make sense though. NW TN is closer to the source of the cold air than anyone else in the state. They should have the highest low-elevation snow averages in the area.

As things wind down here in northern Middle, at the end of the day about what I expected.

Congrats to west TN and especially the Memphis folks. Long time coming for them. Some of us may get a rarity in these parts, snow on top of snow in a few days.

Wow...radar lighting up in Knoxville right now.  Just came up out of nowhere.  And strangely enough the snow is developing along that unusual stationary radar return I noticed earlier.  I have no idea what it was, but it seems to be helping us out.  Heading my way...come on baby, bring me some snow.  ::guitar::

No doubt congrats to Memphis and west tn in general. Can't complain, after a shaky start our area is ending strong. Got to be right at 4 inches if not a little more right now. This snowpack isn't going anywhere no time soon either. Snow on the ground waiting for another one. ::guitar:: ::popcorn:: ::snowman:: ::snowman:: ::snowman::

Me either.  And an hour or so ago, I noticed a radar return there that wasn't moving--almost like a small scale boundary.  The snow shower is developing right along it.  Very interesting.

That's awesome! This winter has been solid already. Can't wait for the potential system on Monday. Would love to see snow fall on top of snow in NW TN, and then temps dip below zero.

Snow just started here.  Temp 33.8 and falling.  What a surprise.  I'm intrigued at what would cause a small scale snow shower like this.
