i want to say the one in the late 90s was in december 98... that pattern actually held pretty much through first week january 99... but after that, we know how that january turned out... that was also a la nina winter....

Yep, it was 98. Remember that now. Now to figure out the one in the late 80s.

Dyer should have pulled the trigger. He has a pretty good track record. I will have alcohol whether it's 60 and rain or below freezing with some sort of winter precipitation.

we had a small snow event Xmas eve of 89...came as the bitter  artic air was retrieving. Winds had actually turned out of south

89. There had been record breaking cold (below zero) with fairly significant sleet that December. I remember ice being on the ground and roads around Christmas.
