I have 4.5hrs of energy usage in the last 10 days. Should be getting my monthly report tomorrow. My heating bill for all of February was $65. Last year(before the Nest) it was over $200. I am a convert. Plus, I can control it when I am away. It was a gift if I were purchasing myself I may go for the Honeywell version. Though, the Nest is sleek! Installing took about 20mins. I def recommend it is a technological advancement in home climate control.

My monthly Nest report came in moments after my first post. The energy I used, not including the fan for circulation, amounted to 14hrs of energy use. That would be the time my unit spent either cooling or heating my home. As I mentioned earlier my February gas bill was $65 and that included us using our gas fireplace to our hearts conent. My energy usage for February was 22hrs(excluding gas fireplace but, gas bill speaks to that). A Nest or similar smart thermostat will pay for itself in a year or two. Also, our home was built in 1978 it has blown in insulation in the attic but the windows are original to the home.
I'm beginning to think you are a Nest sales rep.

I don't have the thermostat, but I've used the Nest (formerly Dropcam) cameras for home security purposes since 2013.  They are one of the most user friendly cameras to set-up and maintain.  I installed a weather proof outdoor camera from Nest as soon as it was available.  I've had zero issues with all of them.  And, no, I don't work for the company.   ;D

On Saturday, at a windy 80 degrees, I split kindling before mowing the lawn so I can have a fire today.  Welcome to a traditional East TN spring!

Top of my car has snow on it and the roof corners all have snow in them this morning. Currently 35F and flurries. Looks like some light snow/sleet is going to be heading into the Nashville area shortly.

A cold snap isn't unusual in April, but the level of cold we've had this spring is impressive.  And it's not just cold, but the amount of snow still falling in the upper Midwest and Great Lakes that makes this spring far from typical.  One has to wonder what summer has in store.

I've seen snow in April- early April though. At this late of a date- I'm not sure, but this may possibly be the latest I've seen snowflakes flying. It would rank up there with only a couple of weeks before the start of May.

My mom recalls seeing snow falling in May around Knoxville in the 1970s. Not sure what year.

Rain/snow mixture falling here now at 38F.  Pretty gusty winds with the showers, too.

PER MRX:

Quote
Persistent cloud cover
today and the cold air advection will keep highs in the upper 30s
to mid 40s for most of the valley. These high temperatures would
set record values for lowest day time highs.

Winter didn't impress, but this spring sure has been one for the record books in terms of lasting cold.  If only this pattern had been around in February.
