We're getting into oppressive territory. The air is thick out there... 89T/73DP in Nashville on the way to a 96 degree high. High of 97 tomorrow, with HI of 105. Low of 76 the next two nights.  ::hot::

Yep I loathe but know it won't be long lasting too. Memphis is at 92 at 10am and HI 103. Gonna make a run at 100 today I think.

I would pick today as my first long run post broken arms. Maybe tomorrow...

It doesn't take long for topsoil to dry out in this brand of heat.  Despite the 4" I had earlier this month, most of my ground cover is wilting and the grass is losing its green luster.

TYS (Knoxville) is actually having a very dry month.  They've only recorded about 1.39" for the month so far.  It's normally the wettest month of the year.

Yep- we had had such regular rains for the last month that I haven't had to keep the fescue watered. Even after last week's rains, the grass is visibly starting to suffer already in this week's heat... turned on the sprinklers yesterday and this morning to give the yard a shot in the arm.

I certainly dont want a long term drought, but it looks like I might finally get to skip a week on the yard mowing.  ::applause::

We haven't had a drop of rain here since Friday, and only 0.48" since July 8, and I still had to mow twice this week (Sunday and yesterday). It's slowing down though (finally)...just in time for the deluge the GFS is consistently printing for Days 8-15.

The Memphis metro was upgraded as well as indexes went over 110. KMEM is at 98, which is the hottest temp this year.
