There are still folks without power in Dyer county. The paper reported 70 to 90 mph wind. It has been a long time since we have had a storm like that come through. Usually is a narrow area with a microburst but this was county wide.

All this happening on the first day of meteorological Spring, no less.  I wonder if this is setting the tone for our 2017 severe weather season.  It has been relatively quiet around here for several years.   Not that I'm complaining.

Two videos from within the Brentwood tornado. The first is dashcam and the second is from an intersection likely caught in the RFD.

That first video was awesome. And the person in the car is lucky it was just an EF1.

I just wonder if there WAS somebody in the car.  I'm thinking the camera was left on.  Could be wrong, though...

The Perryville, MO tornado gets upgraded to an EF-4 making it the first violent tornado of 2017.

I think the person in the car he was referring to was in the second video.

I think that second video is at the intersection of Cool Springs Blvd and Mallory Lane which is well south (maybe a mile or so) from the tornado. Probably RFD winds like he said... although there were intense winds all along that line.

Second video is a cell phone. First video is some sort of dashcam. It's possible it was left on, but I think normally those turn on and off with the car.

I was out of town when the storm hit but am back today. The confirmed tornadoes were very close to my neighborhood. In fact, I noted significant tree damage just on the edge of my neighborhood. That may have been downdraft damage, but it's close enough to the damage path to be plausible. We're basically in the gap between where the Cool Springs tornado lifted, and the Antioch tornado touched down... which was really the same rotation the whole way but just briefly lifted (recycled?).

Our grill was moved by the winds, and we had a lantern on our back porch that blew off and broke, but that was the extent of the effects we saw.

I plan to take a look at our roof today to make sure we didn't lose any shingles or anything.

It has been speculated that there was a couple of spin ups in the mix here with all the damage. This pic from a substation may be proof. Sure looks like a funnel cloud to me.

Without seeing the ground, it's difficult to confirm, but that looks suspiciously like a wedge tornado.
