Christmas Storm!

Quote
Tonight: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 18. Blustery, with a north wind 20 to 25 mph decreasing to between 10 and 15 mph. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

That was the forecast for counties in northeast New Mexico and Western Pan Handle of Texas for tonight. Now take a look at the Short Term Forecast there.

Quote
.NOW...
ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS WILL PERSIST OVER NORTHEAST PARTS
OF NEW MEXICO THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. THE HEAVIEST ACTIVITY
WILL BE CONFINED TO THE INTERSTATE 25 CORRIDOR FROM MAXWELL TO RATON
PASS. IN ADDITION...EXPECT NORTH WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP
40 MPH WHICH WILL CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW. ACCUMULATIONS AROUND
1 INCH ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH 800 PM...MAINLY NEAR THE COLORADO BORDER.
PERSONS DRIVING ALONG INTERSTATE 25 AND HIGHWAY 87 IN COLFAX AS WELL
AS UNION COUNTIES SHOULD BE ALERT FOR SLICK ROADS...STRONG WINDS AND
REDUCED VISIBILITIES TO AROUND ONE MILE.

WeatherDudeB Christmas Storm Update 6 (One More Left)

Tomorrow- Looks like a wet and not white Christmas Day. Some of the moisture may change over to a rain/snow mix across the southern counties before ending Tuesday Morning. Northern areas of Middle Tennessee and the Plateau could see it change over snow showers before exiting late Tuesday Morning. Accumulations if any will be light and roadways should remain clear. That is what I think at this point.

Accumulation Totals... Updated 9pm cst.

Little or No Accumulation across the following counties...
Wayne, Lawrence, Giles, Maury, Marshall, Lincoln, Bedford, Moore, Franklin, Coffee.

0.00-Dusting across the following counties...
Stewart, Houstan, Benton, Humpherys, Decatur, Perry, Lewis, Hickman, Dickson, Montgumary Counties.

Dusting across the following counties...
Robertson, Cheatham, Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford, Wilson, Sumner.

Dusting- 0.50", Isolated 1" amounts across the following counties...
Macon, Trousdale, Clay, Pickett, Fentress, Overton, Jackson, Dekalb, White, Cumberland, Putnam, Van Buren, Grundy, Warren, Smith, Cannon.

Sorry for the bust on this storm guys.

I will make a final call tomorrow morning!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Christmas Storm! BUST! Final Call

Today- Looks like a wet and not white Christmas Day. Temperatures are not going to get cold enough for it to stick well, and I believe Precip. should be ending as colder air finally works in.

Accumulation Totals... Updated 12/25/06 7am cst.

No Accumulation across the following counties...
Wayne, Lawrence, Giles, Maury, Marshall, Lincoln, Bedford, Moore, Franklin, Coffee.

Little if any accumulation across the following counties...
Stewart, Houstan, Benton, Humpherys, Decatur, Perry, Lewis, Hickman, Dickson, Montgumary Counties.

0.00-Dusting across the following counties...

Oh well.  Hopefully, we'll see some flakes flying tomorrow.

Looks like the Nashville office was having a little fun last night.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

 AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
 NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN
 909 PM CST SUN DEC 24 2006

.UPDATE...AN UNEXPECTED EVENT TOOK PLACE EARLIER THIS EVENING IN THE
FAR NORTHERN REACHES OF THE ARCTIC CIRCLE. THE GLOBAL SURVEILLANCE
NETWORK, WHICH NORMALLY TRACKS SANTA CLAUS ON HIS TREK AROUND THE
EARTH EVERY CHRISTMAS, NOTED A NORMAL SOUTHWARD MOVEMENT OF
SANTA`S SLEIGH AND REINDEER FOR THE FIRST HOUR AFTER SUNSET.
HOWEVER, ARCTIC CIRCLE RADAR OPERATORS WERE LEFT SCRATCHING THEIR
HEADS WHEN THEY SAW SANTA MAKE A SHARP TURN BACK TO THE NORTH, AND
SWING BACK TO HIS WORKSHOP, AT "RED SLEIGH TOYS, INC." MOMENTS
LATER, THE SLEIGH REAPPEARED ON RADAR SCREENS, INDICATING AN
UNUSUALLY RAPID SOUTWHARD MOVEMENT. APPARENTLY, SANTA WAS MAKING
UP FOR LOST TIME. AT 800 PM CENTRAL STANDARD TIME, THE NORTH POLE
ASSOCIATED PRESS REPORTED THAT SANTA`S SON, WILLIE CLAUS, HAD
ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED A PACKAGE WHEN HELPING TO LOAD THE SLEIGH
EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON. THE PACKAGE WAS ADDRESSED TO A LITTLE GIRL
NAMED SARAH, WHO LIVES IN PLEASANTVILLE, IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE. THANKS
TO EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION BETWEEN SANTA CLAUS AND HIS HIGH-TECH
"ELF AIR EXPRESS," SANTA WAS ABLE TO GET THE MESSAGE OF THE MISSING
PACKAGE IN TIME TO RETURN TO HIS WORKSHOP, AND THEN MAKE IT BACK IN
THE AIR IN TIME TO RESUME HIS REGULAR DELIVERY SCHEDULE. SANTA
 CLAUS TRULY IS AMAZING!

AT LAST CHECK, SANTA WAS STILL BUSY DELIVERING PACKAGES OVER EASTERN
PORTIONS OF NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA, AND WAS SHOWING UP AS A FAST-MOVING
TARGET MOVING ACROSS RADAR AND SATELLITE NETWORKS ALL ACROSS THE
 NORTHERN HEMISPHERE.

WE`RE HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THE FORECAST FOR MIDDLE TENNESSEE IS
STILL ON TRACK. AS A RESULT, ONLY A FEW MINOR CHANGES HAVE BEEN
MADE TO THE GRIDS. SANTA TYPICALLY DOESN`T LIKE TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH
TOO MANY FORECAST UPDATES, SO IT LOOKS LIKE HE OUGHT TO HAVE
SMOOTH SAILING INTO THE MID STATE OVERNIGHT. AND THAT`S GOOD NEWS TO
CHILDREN EVERYWHERE...ESPECIALLY A LITTLE GIRL NAMED SARAH, IN
 PLEASANTVILLE, TENNESSEE.

I still think we will see some white stuff flying. Enough to give us a taste for the BIG SNOW we're getting next month.  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P

I don't care what the modules say. Im STILL HOPING.

I also agree with whoever said yesterday, that a Sunny Christmas is no good. Christmas SHOULD atleast be cloudy, it just seems cozier. So IM HAPPY!

(COULD be happ-IER if I had some snow!!)

And so it begins...Still not expecting much of anything.

Quote
NOW...
THROUGH MIDNIGHT...LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE
THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE EVENING ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
LOW PRESSURE CENTERED OVER CENTRAL KENTUCKY WILL CONTINUE TO
TRACK NORTHEAST...SPREADING COLDER TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE MID
STATE. BY 9 PM THE TEMPERATURES HAD ALREADY DROPPED TO THE UPPER
30S ACROSS THE NORTHWEST PORTIONS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE.  THE COLD
FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOW HAS JUST PASSED THE NASHVILLE AREA
AND TEMPERATURES WILL BE FALLING THROUGH 40`S AS THE FRONT MOVES
EAST.  THE TEMPERATURE READINGS READINGS WILL LIKELY FALL INTO THE
30S ACROSS ALL OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE LATE TONIGHT...WITH RAIN POSSIBLY
BECOMING MIXED WITH SNOW. REPORTS DURING THE PAST HOUR FROM LEWIS
COUNTY HAVE INDICATED THAT SNOW HAD ALREADY BEGAN MIXING WITH THE
RAIN.

Nothing in the forecast that impresses me right now. Maybe a flurry or too on New Years Day but thats about it. A major storm headed this way for the weekend but that low will ride way too far northwest to even think about snow, but severe weather will be possible. Check back tomorrow and we will look again.
