Good organization taking place this morning...up to 90 mph/980 mb and now NHC is taking this to Category 2/100-105 mph as it passes the Outer Banks. SPC also looking to issue a Tornado Watch later today as the first outer bands make shore.

Yep. I've saved several radar and vis sat images this evening. Looks much stronger than a category one. I hope for the outer banks sake it isn't.

Impressive little guy! Morehead City/Beaufort is sitting in an ugly spot, as is the entire outer banks area.

Unless a good and fast north east to east turn occurs the radar site on Morehead City will be impacted by the western eye wall.

This storm will make landfall near Beaufort within the next hour. Wind gust of 84 mph on Cape Lookout just east of there.

No, I haven't heard if Dish is carrying it. If they are it should be the channel just before or after TWC.

Dramatic live streaming from Jeff Piotrowski who's getting into the eyewall on the OBX. Has seen multiple power flashes...falling trees...and flying debris. Has had to take shelter at times as it continues to get worse.

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/chasercam-live

Surface obs continue to indicate deepening as the eye is over Pamlico Sound...which just recorded a 96 mph wind gust. Minimum pressure at least down to 973mb or so based on latest Ocracoke observation as well as an eye dropsonde that recorded 975mb with a 16t surface wind.

Another application of the dual-pol radar upgrades...we can now see birds (and probably insects, etc) caught/sheltering in the eye of the hurricane!

Picture from UAH Severe Wx Institute.

This is actually a well documented phenomena that happens...
http://digitalcommons.unl.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1407&context=geosciencefacpub

At any rate...Arthur provided some great radar data for future research. Mesovortices within the eye were also observed on radar. Hate I missed tracking it in real-time until very late in the evening...though seems most like me were out enjoying the great weather locally during this holiday weekend. (I was also making money. >:D)
