AccuWeather's 45-Day Forecasts Tested
« on: December 26, 2013, 02:33:06 PM »
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/wp/2013/12/26/students-put-accuweather-long-range-forecasts-to-the-test/

Students at PSU tested Accuweather's 45-day forecasts against actual observed weather and climatology. The result: About what you'd think. After 10 days...Climo 'forecasts' generally better verified (often by vast amounts) than what Accuweather was providing.

Here's the graph for Memphis...

Great write-up! The fact is that AccuWX knew this going in. It's a gimmick to get people to use their site more than anything.

You mean a little company like AccuWeather trying to make wild...unrealistic forecasts in order to draw more people to their product and thus make a little profit off of these unsuspecting forecast-seekers?

Blasphemous...
