Flurry Alert 11/16/06
« on: November 12, 2006, 01:24:24 PM »
Is anyone jumping on this flurry possibility? Saint Louis AFD mentions a raw and wet day on Wednesday unless GFS temps are slightly lower then they could be looking at a winter wonderland. They are forecasting the rain to change and mix with snow wednesday night. I am just thinking, if we got sleet and flurries from yesterday's pitiful system could this stronger system bring a little more of wintry weather tastes. Ya'll tell me what u are thinking! Low pressure should move from about Little Rock to Paducah and then towards Louisville.

Intresting look at what i found at the talkweather forums.......................The last several runs of the GFS model is advertising winterlike temps on Thursday.
Today's 12z has temps in the mid-upper 30s all day Thursday for East TN, north AL, and north GA with enough moisture for scattered snow showers, and some light accumulations in the Smoky Mountains.

A little early, but interesting nonetheless

Very early too tell and this will prolly not play out for anyone but maybe the plateau, but if there is a chance, News 2 will likely dicuss it since they have been one of the first to point out our other chances of sleet/flurries. News 2 has yet to mention it so we will see.

Interesting snip from Joe Bastardi from Accuweather.com.

Quote
...The first is coming now and will develop into a major midwest storm with snow flakes probably seen all the way into the Tenn valley on Thursday as the storm winds northeastward This does have potential for early season wet snow through much of the Ohio valley Thursday. A special post tomorrow will try to hone in on this storm...

.....but maybe the plateau...

It seems like whenever snow is forecasted for the plateau we get some in Clay County (although I've been told we are considered the highland rim).   I'm looking forward to the first snowfall.  I REALLY like it when we get the snow that sticks to the trees.  Makes for some wonderful scenery up here on the hill.

I have my fingers (and toes) crossed!

It won't be cold there tomorrow... until the front comes through. Then there's that possibility for some flurry action.

BTW, some light snow (no accum) is being forecast after frontal passage in N Louisiana!
Views expressed are my personal views and opinions and should not take the place of official forecasts and warnings issued by the NWS and your local media.

from a non-scientific point of view it seems as if we could at least see a flurry or something because in the st louis area tommorrow its a 50 percent chance of snow with 1-3 inches possible and it seems like we would be able to get something out of it i hope we do because im snow starved

Don't see anything coming from this, unless the temps start to plummet and the moisture sticks around into tonight.
