RIP Mark Walden
« on: April 07, 2013, 09:30:36 AM »
Numerous people are reporting that ABC 24 chief meteorologist Mark Walden has passed away overnight. Do not know the cause and don't want to speculate.

Prayers going up for him and his family.

What a tragedy for ABC 24/30. They had finally recovered from Brian Teigland passing, as Mark took his position as chief met. Mark was one of my favorites. Great forecaster and absolutely great guy. Praying for everyone at the station as well as family.

I'm hearing natural causes. Nothing has been officially confirmed by ABC 24 just yet. Sad day indeed, may he RIP.

From the ABC 24 news story:

Quote
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - It is with great sadness that we report the sudden loss of an ABC 24 family member, Chief Meteorologist Mark Walden. According to officials, Mark died in his home over the weekend from apparent natural causes. He was 38 years old. Mark joined ABC 24 in 1999. He was highly respected among his colleagues as a gifted meteorologist with a passion for weather, and keeping our community safe and informed. Mark also proudly served with numerous charitable organizations. He leaves behind his beloved wife, stepdaughter and son. Memorial services are still pending. All of us at ABC 24 are heartbroken by Mark's passing, and we extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones. ABC 24 will pay tribute to Mark Walden, beginning in our 5 p.m. Sunday newscast.

Oh no.  What a shame.  I'll keep his family and friends in my thoughts. :(

Very tragic.   Prayers for his family.   One question: How does one just die of natural causes at 38?

Put on my big snow boots and
I boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues
In the middle of the freezing rain

Snow up high
Won't you pour down over me
Yeah, I got some accretion
But I'm as blue as a boy can be

Could of been a heart, brain, or other problem. Sometimes people are born with these issues and never have problems with it until it is too late to do anything.
