KenTenn Severe Weather Workshop
« on: January 21, 2012, 12:17:14 PM »
The NWS is sponsoring a "severe wx workshop" on March 31st at APSU in Clarksville.  This sounds like a really interesting afternoon.  It's free, open to the public, and yours truly will be in attendance.  There is an agenda attached and a registration form.

Hope to see several of you there!

Thanks for sharing. I've really been wanting to attend an advanced spotter training class and now it looks like this is my chance! Was starting to wonder if one would ever be offered in reasonable driving distance...

Is there going to be a huge difference between the one in Nashville and the one in Clarksville? If so, I'm going to try and go to both...

My part of the APSU will be different/more in depth.  Can't speak to the rest of the presenters.

I'm definitely coming, especially after last night. Definitely want to learn more about QLCS's and learn about reading radar better...I have Radarscope for iPhone, but I'm not too good at reading it. Will there be any opportunity to go over that?

Also, all I have completed is a basic spotting class so far...just want to make sure there isn't a class in between Basic and Advanced/Elite that might prevent me from coming.

Also, am I going to any have issues with me being zoned for MRX?

According to their agenda, there will be a discussion about GR2 and GR3 products...which IMO, are the grandaddies of RadarScope - different platforms, but essentially the same thing.

Can you get the GR software on Mac yet?

I use it on my Mac via parallels. Works fine with smoothing shading and all that jazz.

Gotcha - I'd need it on my desktop, but its an older G5. Does it have to have an intel processer to run parallels?

Yep. Intel only. You could try virtualpc.... I can't remember if it supports ppc but I believe it does (or did)

I'll look into it, but I imagine anything they made before they put the intel chips in, probably would not be worth the money to purchase. Radarscope on my ipad works well enough now.

RadarScope isn't *that* far away from GR. Just wonder how far they want to take it on Mac.
