KMEM HI at 107, temp 95. Not sure if today is a 100 day, nonetheless HI will come dangerously close to excessive heat warning in a couple of hours unless things mix out.

You have to love the little island of a little relief that is the Ozarks in NW AR.  I am so moving out there some day!

I think LIT is too biased for the Ozarks and heat sometimes. Most elevations there average 1000-1200 feet, which is really not that significant in the bigger picture.

Other locations from TUL in NW AR are nearing 100, with slightly lower DP's, but with HI's of 101-102 at 1pm, there is a good chance they would at least qualify for a heat advisory.

KMEM only got down to 82 last night. Wonder if that's a record for the date?

We seem to be mixing out a little.  Dewpoint is down a couple degrees over the last hour as well as humidity.  Still bordering on a dangerous HI at 107 though.  We have a pretty nice breeze here though now (related to the mixing?  not sure there)

Low this morning at KMEM was 81...record high-min was 84...so no records there.

So far...97 for the KMEM high. Could get to 98 in the next hour or so...still running several degrees below the 00z guidance last night which had 100-101 for the High Today. Dewpoints have also slightly mixed out...so the HI has leveled to around 107...so should still stay just below warning criteria at least for Today.

One of the rare times we have undercut guidance in these situations in the summer.  Usually it ends up going to other way it seems!  I assume the soil moisture content as well as the atmosphere mixing out has helped?  Afternoon mixing has seemed to play a role in keeping HIs down ever so slightly this summer versus in the past.  This is one of the few summers I have actually paid attention though so it could just be that!

Its a good question because we have slightly mixed out...which has helped our HI...but usually when that happens the temperature would spike up...which we haven't seen beyond the normal afternoon increases...and especially considering we have no Cu field. On the reverse...the added soil moisture content from the recent rains would seem that it would keep the DPs up a bit and help develop a Cu field...even if keeping the temperature down a bit...and we haven't seen that either...so we're not classically in either scenario.

E-NE of Memphis...we have a pretty classic dewpoint pooling scenario which has the HI higher. And W-SW of Memphis...dewpoints have mixed out more but temperatures have responded and are near/at 100+...so the HI there is also a little up. We're strangely in this "in-between area" right now...and the Memphis HI (along with places like Oxford...Tunica...and Olive Branch) is actually among the lowest in the entire region.

I was a bit puzzled why temps aren't jumping up a bit with the lower dew point.
You do know it's full blown summer when the exciting points of weather talk are on the subject of the current dew point and soil moisture content.  ;D

LOL...indeed.

FYI...KMEM did reach 98 shortly before 3:30p. Probably will be the high for the day...though I suppose there is a slight chance it could bump up to 99 in the next half hour or so...

I so can't wait till summer's over, unless we have a tropical system.

Fell back to 97 for the 4p ob...DP the same...so HI remains at 107. That should be it for Today...we'll see if we can outdo it tomorrow.

Very odd that we have higher DP/HI here up north than in the Memphis metro...it's more often than not the other way around. And as for the soil moisture content, the ground here is fairly dry. Plus not a cloud in sight. Everything is backwards attm  ::shrug::

I am also beyond ready for a TD/TS to make it's way through here  ::yum::
