ICE STORMS & SNOW THREAT CONCERNS, FOR THE SOUTH & SE STATES.
With a Strong STJ in place for much of January and February, I’m very concerned with overrunning events that will setup further to the south. This will result in Colder and Wetter conditions for much of the South and SE States. Several Ice Storms are likely from the Southern Plains, eastward to The Ozarks, The Tenn. Valley, and much of the SE States. Overrunning, and CAD setups will be common in this pattern. During the colder periods a few good snowfalls will also occur in these regions, bringing them Near to Above average Snowfall, but I do think Ice will be more of a threat, keeping the snowfall totals from being above 125% the normal.
But the Tenn. Valley into the Carolina’s will have the greatest chances of Above Normal Snowfall. This is where it will be colder, and much more influence will be felt, from the phasing Northern Branch.
As I mentioned earlier, the O/V and portions of the M/A, will also be in the running for a couple of Ice storms this winter season. (December and February are the best chances further north in these regions.[/i]
