SUBJECT: Clarification on Sources of Weather Information 
 
NWS, part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has no association with the Southern California Weather Authority or with Mr. Kevin Martin or any other staff of the Southern California Weather Authority.  Weather forecast and warning products developed and distributed by Mr. Martin or the Southern California Weather Authority may have formatting or contain content that could visually be confused with that of the National Weather Service.  Regardless of formatting or content, Mr. Martin’s weather products have no connection with nor are they the products of the National Weather Service.
 
NWS is the sole official voice of the U.S. Government for warnings of hazardous weather, including tornadoes, hurricanes, winter storms, floods and others.  NWS encourages the media and others to distribute NWS warnings and other hazardous weather products widely to aid public safety.
 
NWS also respects the rights of individuals, companies, and other organizations to produce weather information of their own and to use NWS information to help them do so, including those who choose to produce weather information regarding weather hazards; however, it is important to distinguish official products that are produced and issued by the National Weather Service from weather information produced by others that is NOT produced by NWS.  It is especially important to avoid any confusion between NWS warnings and those that might be produced by others.

Nice.  Now time to see if Mr. Martin will calm the heck down.  He was threatening legal action against the NWS if they did anything to him...I wonder if he'll see this that way, or read it properly and discover they're not saying he can't do it.

I'll believe that when I see it. He's already posting nonsensical messages lashing out at the NWS about this...and now is claiming he is being "impersonated" by NWS personnel and others in their forecasts...There was an internal message that went out to NWS offices yesterday that was far more direct about the situation than the external PNS issued Today....saying to immediately sever all contact with him and report any contact to authorities.

The guy is clearly severely mentally disabled...and needs serious help...

Megan Gould is also one the NWS, and media as well. has had trouble with. She isn't as bad as this Kevin...but she is up there.

Actually I'm not so sure Kevin Martin isnt Johnny Depp in disguise.

 He has actually made death threats at people to and actually scams people as well.  He pretty much is the Lane Kiffin of the weather world and they both come from the same area as well.

There's no "story" really to quote...just the PNS NWS sent out this morning. You can check out this person's site if you want to see some of his statements yourself...but I will not link to that here. He's been known in the past to capture IPs that have visited his site in order to exploit them.

I got this link from Texas Storm Chasers on facebook.  There is a You Tube Video(which contains Adult Language).  Some information about what went down.  Also I believe the admin had to block and ban Kevin Martin's IP because he tried to go on and here and make a comment.  Be on the lookout he likes to have alias to defend himself.  By what I hear he doesn't have any meteorology/geology/or related degree.  

Edit:  Like our Kevin said don't go on his Southern CAL or Weatherspace site because he likes to steal IP's and also it is Trojan and Virus filled.

No degree...no certification. Its just what he has said...done and threatened that such's a huge issue. Obviously...we've never seen the NWS issue a national-level PNS to discuss one single individual...those are reserved for service changes or technical notices.

I make no over-exaggeration when I say I am seriously concerned this is the type of person that will one day try to go into a NWS office or something somewhere with a gun...

 He has done stuff that will put you on the Terrorist List very fast.  He has threatened the NWS, the IRS, and many other Government officials.

Why can't California just be normal. I seriously think this guy just getting his a** kicked would solve part of the problem. This guy is all talk.
