Radar shows snow in Cookeville, but of course nothing is reaching the ground. Any chance we start seeing at least a little snow before this thing passes? Maybe a dusting?

I stress the word maybe...a lot of dry air aloft...but moisture will continue to stream in all night, so a dusting isn't out of the question or even slightly more.

Radar returns near Memphis have the fuzzy snow look. Most likely is falling as sleet/snow and melting into warmer air at the surface.

Yeah, there some heavy returns across St. Francis/Crittenden/Mississippi/and western Tipton counties. It's in the upper 30s to low 40s so I'm guessing you're right.

Its hitting a brick wall of dry air right at the MS River.

I say nothing reaches the ground here.

Yep...the heavy returns are brightbanding where its hitting the freezing level/melting layer. They're usually not detectable on the base ref. tilt because the freezing level is much higher. Tonight...a low freezing level means they are detectable even down low...picking up around NW Shelby into Crittenden and Mississippi Counties. That's at about 600-1200 ft off of NQA.

As my avatar shows, we have light to moderate snow here at Monterey, did not expect to see it fall this good. ;D
