Just eyeballin it.... looks like .25-.4 of sleet/ice around your neck of the woods adam with an inch or two of snow to top it off.

Looks like an extremely borderline event to me, with either all rain, snow, ice or a combo of all three going on. I will give it a few days before I give this thing a serious look. Icestorms are even harder than snowstorms to pin down where/how much.

I honestly don't know how anyone would cope with that much ICE around here. We did get hit pretty hard with the 1994 Ice storm. How much ice was around then?
AND A LOT CAN CHANGE BETWEEN NOW AND THEN.

way way way more than that.

Don't get me wrong, a half inch of ice sucks. But 1994 was well over an inch.

Yeah that is what i thought, half an inch can still bring powerlines down which is something i do not want. I have never had a major sleet storm but has far as i know it bounces off everything and does not stick to well.

Day before typically.  Most TV stations are too worried about being wrong and losing ratings to go out any farther than that.  Typically they will down play it until it is eminent, then they spin it as the next apocalypse to get ratings.  :D

18z GFS...2m temps are also moving southward. ALmost the entire event is at or below freezing in the Memphis metro, which screams rain to ice to snow.

Yipes.  Good thing I cranked up my generator last weekend.

hopefully, each model run will indicate us getting colder and gets us in the deeper cold so the ice will go over to snow quicker. i feel pretty good sitting around  i 40 corridor. could get really nasty to the south of that.

Depending on timing we're about 80-100 hours out from whatever this ends up being. If things continue to show a possible winter storm I'd imagine tomorrow they'd start mentioning the chance for wintry weather. Even if it looks significant I wouldn't expect any major talk about it until late Tuesday. I don't really pay attention to the local news stations regarding weather, except during severe thunderstorm coverage. I imagine since we just had a major storm and exhausting forecast challenge that that's why there's not as much discussion about this storm, on this board. I'm mildly intrigued by it. Last winter we had two major storms back-to-back. I wouldn't mind that again.

1/16 18Z GFS continues the favorable trend toward frozen precip...looks like Nashville would get 5 inches of snow per this run.
