How low will it go 1/13?
« on: January 13, 2011, 07:44:20 PM »
Good snowpack and the skies have finally cleared.  7PM hourly obs already have Winchester down to 10 and Shelbyville at 12.  I've got 14.6 here on the hill...if past experience is any indication I bet its close to single digits already down in our bottom field.

13 at Huntsville and 12 (with fog and mist) at Meridianville at 9:00. Record for Huntsville is 9 tomorrow, so that looks like a good bet, in fact it fell 4 degrees just last hour.
Snow in the South is wonderful. It has a kind of magic and mystery that it has nowhere else. And the reason for this is that it comes to people in the South not as the grim, unyielding tenant of Winter's keep, but as a strange and wild visitor from the secret North. -THOMAS WOLFE

I am at 8 under clear skies, already busted MRX's predicted low for tonight which for whatever reason was only 11.

Not too bad inside house with the kerosene going. It's a toasty 78°F   :)..... Outside it's 16°F.

Oh yeah, we still have decent snowpack too.

Youins are nuts.  ;D  If you ever get a woodstove you will change your tune in the wintertime.  Last night I had the stovetop cruising along at 550 with some great secondary flames going and the living room was at a balmy 78.

Bought a kerosene heater two years ago for emergency heat, and have used it last year and this year as supplemental heat on these cold mornings.  Helps me save some on the electric bill.  Got down to 9F this morning.  Pond frozen over.  Ducks have moved on to wetter places.

9 degrees imby, 12 at the airport. I was expecting to be a bit colder given how much snow is still left.
