December 6 Snow Showers?
« on: December 06, 2010, 09:47:04 AM »
Looks like areas of Southern Ky and North Central Tennessee could see some snow showers from a little disturbance and NW winds and moisture moving in from the NW. We have been getting some on and off again snow showers here in Cincy this morning also.

Its not gonna be a snow like that. We may see a little dusting try to accumulate on some car windshields or something but thats it. The water content in these small flakes will be extremly low and the rate of this is more like flurries or aka snow shower. Dusting would be confined to a nice burst of snow for a brief moment but dont count on it.

Exactly. Dew points are in the teens but it's so cold and dry that what falls will either stick or sublimate. I'll take a coating though...

Starting to see flakes in Brentwood, just ahead of some decent radar returns about to move in.

One thing about accumulations during the daylight hours (even if just a dusting), we stand a better chance than we would in February or March, simply because the sun angle is close to minimum, being that it's December.

Nice flurry dusting (as Bill Hall would say) in spots here in downtown Nashville.  Whatever falls is mostly sticking but the wind is blowing it around like powder so it accumulates more in drift type areas.  Puts you in the Christmas mood, Let it snow Let it snow Let it snow....

Light snow picking up in Brentwood.  Visibility is starting to fade the hills a bit.

Yeah, almost a snow "squalish" type action here in Smyrna for a few minutes.  Nice to see the flakes flying at least!

What a nice treat we had in BG, had a good dusting to maybe even some light accumulations. My meteorology professor is the official BG snow observer so it will be interesting to see what he got at his home, here on campus we had a good burst of heavy snow with fat flakes for about 30 minutes then it slacked off in size and intensity. Still some flurries flying...

Looks like there is some more light snow showers moving southward...will have to watch those closely, they do not seem as strong as this morning's batch, so it will be interesting to see how far southward it gets.
