Nov. 30 backside snow

Won't amount to much, but it's snowing like crazy in Downtown Memphis right now.

Temperature was in the low 40s on the drive in this morning, but the rain mixed with and then changed over to all snow. Just a heavy shower, but it's nice to look at! Roads are wet so no travel problems, but it appears to be sticking to some cars as a slush, now.

(With all of the futurecasting that we do, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to nowcast a nice little surprise.)

ACROSS MANY PORTIONS OF THE MID SOUTH THIS MORNING. MINOR
ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE IN AREAS OF PERSISTANT WINTER
PRECIPITATION. TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO COOL BOTH NEAR THE
SURFACE AND ESPECIALLY ALOFT...WHICH WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT A
MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO FROZEN PRECIPITATION. PRECIPITATION SHOULD
REMAIN LIGHT BUT WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR FOR POSSIBLE WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY IF ACCUMULATIONS APPROACH ADVISORY CRITERIA OR
TRAVEL DETERIORATES FURTHER THAN CURRENTLY ANTICIPATED.

A COUPLE BANDS OF PRECIPITATION...ONE FROM PARIS TO TUPELO...AND
ANOTHER ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER WILL CONTINUE PUSHING NORTHEAST
THIS MORNING. SEVERAL REPORTS OF MIXED PRECIPITATION HAVE BEEN
RELAYED TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AREAS OF HEAVIER
SHOWERS. ONE REPORT FROM OSCEOLA INDICATED SOME MINOR ACCUMULATIONS
OF SNOW WAS BEGINNING ON ROADWAYS. ANOTHER REPORT IN MCNAIRY
COUNTY ALSO INDICATED RAIN TRANSITIONING TO SLEET AND SNOW.

AS COLDER AIR CONTINUES TO ADVANCE INTO THE MIDSOUTH...EXPECT RAIN
TO CONTINUE TO MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO SLEET OR SNOW. MINOR
ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE...ALTHOUGH MOST PLACES WILL ONLY
SEE A TRACE. USE CAUTION ON THE ROADWAYS IF PRECIPITATION BEGINS
ACCUMULATING.

Sounds like just a case of a few lucky folks with that band of precipitation right along the river. Nothing all day just east of there at the UofM as that band just sat there until it dissipated completely by 10-10:30

Here at my house, I have dropped down to 38 degrees. I do not know about in town though.
