Thanks to cyclonicjunkie for drawing me that map earlier. I thought the plateau was relatively consistent in elevation. I drove through this phenomenon and saw it firsthand today for the first time. In downtown Chattanooga, it was sunny (still cold though!), on Signal Mountain it was still sunny and somewhat inexplicably snowing (there was seriously a couple of small clouds, no more than that). After I drove through the Sequatchie Valley and up towards Pikeville, it was overcast and snowing steadily.
Although we got shafted from the main snow band with moderate snow..I guess the flurries were enough!!!
According to WVLT-TV, they are saying a low of 10 degrees tonight Bundle up everybody, it'll be the coldest I've seen for a long while

I will say this: I will always remember this sytem and use it, when the naysayers say we cant get substancial snow from a Lakes cutter This was one of the most impressive precip shields of any storm and ranks up there with the greats (Although it would be at the bottom of the list ) I mean at one time there was lake effect snow (Radar returns) from the great lakes down to southern AL. It takes a big dog to achieve something like that.
