Summer weather folklore
« on: June 03, 2010, 06:29:53 PM »
I'm working on a novel that has a old Tennessee grandpa who is very knowledgeable about weather signs in nature.  I know a lot of winter weather lore to include (wooly worms, etc), but I need help with summer nature-related folklore.  Can anybody help me out?

Many thanks, Still Hoping

Sorry, I was unclear.  I am writing the novel.  I want my character to be able to make statements about an upcoming summer based on signs in nature. The novel is based in Tennessee. The story starts in June and will go through June of the following year.  I'm planning on using a lot of the winter signs, but was hoping there was something out there concerning heat, dryness, etc. for the summer, or even the upcoming spring. It is set in1973 if that makes a difference.

Thanks!
