A significant weather system brought very heavy rain and severe thunderstorms from
Saturday
, May 1 through Sunday morning, May 2.
A stalled frontal boundary coupled with very moist air streaming northward from the Gulf set the stage for repeated rounds of heavy rainfall.
Many locations along the I-40 corridor across western and middle Tennessee reported in excess of 10 to 15 inches, with some locations receiving up to 20 inches according to doppler radar estimates.

May 2, 2010 is a date that will be etched in my memory for a long time.

No real additional progress at my place over the last few days.  The bare, gutted out structure still stands, waiting for next steps, while the mountains of debris removed from the houses still line the streets.

My flooded car still hasn't been picked up.  But, towing companies are very busy, and my insurance agent said that it may be several days before they get to it.  There are several muddy, formerly underwater cars still left around my neighborhood.  And, there are dozens upon dozens of neighborhoods just like mine all over the area where an untold number of families have been displaced by the flood.

Bummer... I'll miss the familiar urgency of the all caps regardless of the real urgency.
A TRANQUIL WEATHER PATTERN BRINGING FAIR SKIES WILL DOMINATE THE REGION.

One of the Worst things about this Historical Flooding is that Some People do Not have Flood Insurance.
Most of us would never expect such large amounts of rain in such short time periods.
And some Insurance comp. may even try to deny you coverage depending on the exact wording of the policy.
I heard that severeal New Orleans citizens were denied help when Hurricane Katrina hit them.   ::flag::
Lets hope this does not happen here in Tenn.

After all the Heavy Rain did came down almost just like it does in a Hurricane
