Since the radar shows the snow tapering off from here on out, decided to make my report to CoCoRaHS. Ended up with 1" of new, fluffy snow from the heavier bands.

We do still have light to moderate snow falling and may add a little, but not enough to make a huge difference.

Ended up with 2 1/4 inches of snow here in Cannon County including the additional snow from last night. Back roads remain pretty bad here.

Got a quick dusting out of that snow this morning. Looks like it was very isolated over the downtown area, GF says no snow out at the house.

We ended up with 2" at the house.  Quite a bit must have fallen yesterday afternoon since there was only 1/2" on the ground when I left for work.  Some impressive driftage down by the road... four inches along the lee side of a ditch bank.

It was nice seeing the house all lit up last night against the backdrop of some drifted, fluffy snow.

This winter has certainly helped my snow itch.  Now, where did I put Spring?

The diurnal activity is flaring up yet again today.  Snowing fairly decently in Brentwood right now, with nice returns showing up over the area on radar.

My area that recieved nothing from the diurnal activity yesterday is now getting pretty steady snow. Anyone know why this stuff isn't sticking?? Its not above freezing

1) It's a very dry snow, so there's low water content, and 2) even though it's cloudy, the sun is acting to melt and evaporate what little does manage to fall on the roads even through the cloud cover.

Last night, it was just starting to stick because the sun went down.  But, the same sun that kept the roads clear was also enhancing the snow shower activity.  So, when the sun went down, even though it started to stick to the roads, the snow shower activity fizzled.

The sun giveth, and the sun taketh away.  ;)

Actually sticking and melting are two totally different things.  The snow isn't sticking because of the low moisture content and it's melting in part because of a higher sun angle.
