True but not in my SOUTH!  However, we have had a good year so far and I expect more snows to come!

FYI: I have seen photographic evidence of snow accumulating in Mobile, AL.  This is on the coast.  Unfortunately, I cannot post these photos due to privacy concerns from the person who took them, but still...

::doh:: CNN, MSNBC would irk me the same way.  It's not an argument for or against climate change. It's the lack of explaining or understanding weather cycles that frustrates me so much. It's winter it's cold, so snow is possible and it can happen anywhere.

5 inches of snow measured near Evergreen, AL:

Quote
1149 AM     HEAVY SNOW       5 N EVERGREEN           31.50N 86.96W
02/12/2010  M5.0 INCH        CONECUH            AL   TRAINED SPOTTER

THUS FAR...THIS MARKS THE HIGHEST OFFICIAL SNOWFALL
            DEPTH.

That's near where you usually turn off I-65 in southern AL to take highways to Pensacola, Destin, etc.

Only about an hour or so away from the BEACH.  ::wow::

I saw 4 Marine gunships flying north over my house yesterday, I assumed they were from Pensacola trying to avoid ice. Anyone else see that impressive formation?

Any idea on specific type?  We see Blackhawks all the time here in Smyrna from the airport Army NG station here.

They were cobra's. Grabbed my son and ran out to get a good look. Flying at just a few hundred feet. It's always such an impressive flight. Helped wet my appetite for http://www.thunderoverlouisville.org/

The 97 storm was the most memorable for me. Was that a clipper? I measured 5 inches at my house from that storm, and as far as I can tell, that was the most snow that fell at my house from 96-03. (fisherville, just north of collierville)
Not sure if it was a clipper but I recall it being unexpected. Wintry precip had been in the forecast much of the week but Memphis missed out on much of the action. Thursday morning we had a quick round of heavy snow with another far more significant event by Friday. The main action that week was expected during the first half of the week with winter storm watches and warnings in effect.
