Both the 2/7 12Z GFS and 0Z ECMWF show a winter weather threat on 2/12-13 (Fri-Sat). A low/wave forms in the GOM and tracks to the south of us while temps look favorable for snow. At the moment the system is too suppressed to be optimal for us in TN. However, the models do show light snow or at least flurries for a large part of TN. This could be one of those systems where southern TN or northern Alabama gets the most snow.

I'm not going to worry about next weekends possible event until Wed. at the earliest. The folks on the InAccurate weather forum are in fantasy land over this storm I think. 7 days out and they have the storm "nailed", even putting out exact amounts of snow for each city.

They say temps in low 30's with heavy bands of snow. They are calling for 6-10 inches from Columbus to Augusta.  Sorry, I'm just not seeing that on the models.

2/7 12Z ECMWF has the storm a little more suppressed and we get nothing. We really need a north trend with this one.

Snow in the South is wonderful. It has a kind of magic and mystery that it has nowhere else. And the reason for this is that it comes to people in the South not as the grim, unyielding tenant of Winter's keep, but as a strange and wild visitor from the secret North. -THOMAS WOLFE

I like Disco music. You ever been to a disco ball before?? Haha, JUST KIDDING. We do need this to go farther north, or we'll see nothing out of this potential history maker in Georgia/South Carolina. I have seen too much history being made in the past year to miss out on this one too.(DC/Baltimore 30 inches of snow, snow on Christmas day, December 19 blizzard, possibly this one)

That was a very good write-up by the Raleigh Weather Examiner, it shows the inconsistencies by the models thus far and what needs to happen for the snow to stay south of us, or hit us in the chops.

This system has my attention more so then the Monday-Wednesday event.

Have my eye on this one too. Little early yet, but it's something to watch. We certainly have been blessed with many chances during the winter thus far.

Yea, I know. I live on Signal Mtn. in Chattanooga. I love the character in the movie Anchorman and this was the only site where Bricks name wasn't taken so since I'm from TN. I felt I had dibs on it.

That's cool, we need a Tennessee Brick.

DT posted this at Stormvista today about the 2/12-13 event and today's 12Z GFS...

Hey, if that snowstorm potential reached up into BNA (Nashville if I remember correctly), then wouldn't that mean for the whole state of TN?
