Not sure its showing anything more than a glorified clipper (would love to see some QPF maps) but the cold would ensure higher than norma ratios even in light precip. Plus look at hr 168...

More scattered snow showers likely to continue and just brutal cold

Kevin I as well want to see the QPF maps. I wonder what the SD is for 510 heights over us!

Just an incredible run. Who knows if it will ever verify...but that would be a very rare (and needless to say extremely cold) pattern over the SE...

Pretty much a perfect scenario for here is a big dump and then to go into the deep freeze.  I would be ecstatic if we could pull one of those long periods of snow cover again.

Well at least now we will have the cold if a storm moves in, then we won't have to worry about it, the only thing we will have to worry about is the moisture.
AND A LOT CAN CHANGE BETWEEN NOW AND THEN.

AFD about this even from OHX this morning:

Quote
STILL LOOKS LIKE THERE MAY BE A BRIEF SNOW EVENT THURSDAY NIGHT
AND FRIDAY, ESPECIALLY DURING THE 06Z-18Z PERIOD ON FRIDAY. EXPECT
SOME ACCUMULATIONS ALONG THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU, WITH A POSSIBLE
DUSTING IN AREAS BETWEEN I-65 AND THE PLATEAU. STILL LOOKS LIKE WE
MAY BE LOOKING AT A SUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF SNOW (I.E., PERHAPS 1-3
INCHES) TO WARRANT A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ALONG THE PLATEAU, SO
DON`T BE SURPRISED IF ONE GETS HOISTED LATER THIS WEEK. SINCE THIS
EVENT WILL BE COMING IN ON NEW YEARS EVE AND NEW YEARS DAY, FOLKS
SHOULD KEEP THIS IN MIND IF THEY PLAN BEING OUT ON THE ROAD DURING
THAT TIME PERIOD (ESPECIALLY ALONG THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU).

To me, it seems like the rain/snow shield down in TX is running ahead of schedule. Not by too many hours, but it does look like it could exit some of the regions of TX before forecasted. What that means for our DMA I am not sure and it may mean nothing at all, but we could see this moisture arrive here sometime before noon and we may be dealing with some sleet and snow. That is just one of the possible scenarios.

Its up to 42/25 in Memphis now...and the thicker cloud deck should be arriving just after sunset. Can't envision any problems locally with winter weather...perhaps a few sleet pellets at the onset...even if an earlier timing verifies (not that I was thinking there could be much if anything in the metro).

Could be a different story across Northeast Arkansas and the Missouri Bootheel as temperatures are rising just barely above freezing. Southeast winds and WAA overnight will probably keep temperatures nearly steady...but its close enough that there could be a period of small snow/sleet/freezing rain accumulations that might warrant a brief winter weather advisory for the morning rush hour.

Well even for the cooler areas of the metro the cloudcover and increasing Southeasterly flow/WAA should keep the metro safe from any problems...provided both occur. I think MEG was too far south with their depiction of I-40 for potential accumulations this morning...but the new updates showing a Harrisburrg AR to Paris TN line north as a boundary seems right on...
